How do you prepare for long walk/jog?

While everyone is different, I'd wager that the need to carry hydration for a mere six-mile walk has more to do with one's level of preparation that any intrinsic bodily differences. For the vast majority of people, walking is fairly non-strenuous, even with a bit of elevation. I'm confident that the need to carry water is based mostly on how well someone hydrates beforehand rather than any dramatic differences in body chemistry.0

I look at it this way-
I might leave planning to go only 6 or 7 miles, but once I'm off the paved trail out in the hills, there is no water, no food, no cell-service. If I fall or sprain my ankle, or, heaven forbid, get more seriously injured than that, I'm going to need food and water, possibly my emergency poncho, etc. As I said above, I generally don't drink much if it's just 5 or 6 miles, maybe a sip or two. But I'd rather be prepared for an emergency than have no resources with me.0
