Did I really gain 3 pounds in 6days?

Last Tuesday, I weighed in at 216.5 and today I weighed in at 219.6. Is that really possible? Granted I did not do any exercises on Saturday and Sunday nor log in my food diary since it was my family reunion and I wanted to enjoy myself. I didn't over eat, didn't have any alcohol at all. I know I was slack in my water intake but could I have really put back on 3 pounds that quick? Anyone have any ideas?

Sure, if you ate over 10,500 calories. Otherwise it's probably water from too much sodium and lack of water. Don't stress.0

3 pounds in 3 days. It's possible. But like someone else said, it might be just some blip caused by sodium or just a temporary spike from all the food and no activity. I'd receck later in the week for confirmation of course. 1-2 day spikes happen.0

I weighed 181.3 on Friday morning...I weigh 185 today. It's not fat, because it's scientifically and mathematically impossible for it to be fat. For me, it was a killer workout on Saturday in which I was shooting for a PR on my OH press combined with some salty junk food on Sunday. All of the above caused me to retain 4 Lbs of water...muscles recovering from my Sat AM workout and the rest is sodium related water retention. It'll be gone by Tues/Wed.0

Thanks everyone. I don't feel as bad. I weighed in today officially at my doctor's office and I was only up 1/2 pound and he said the same thing, water retention and lack of water. So lesson learned here is to not slack on my water and watch my sodium.0

You've got the right idea, my weight fluctuates by about 5 lbs on any given day. If I eat a pound of food... I weight a pound more until I am sure it's left my system. Take about 24-72 hours for your food to pass through your system.
My solution has been to weigh myself at the same time every day, and count the lowest weight for a given week. Can't fake the lows, but the highs fluctuate a lot. This doesn't work for a lot of people though, since they can get a little obsessive, but if you can manage it, it's the best method by far.0
