A goal is a wonderful thing

I've been on and off this site since 2012 but kept on giving up after a couple of months. In September 2015 I weighed myself and saw 221 on the scale. I was not proud of myself because I realized comfort food became my addiction. I used to be a smoker, haven't been one for 12 years but with one excuse after another comfort food was my new cigarette. So I decided to make a change in my life. I'm a single mum of two wonderfully supportive sons and I work full time. I used to be involved as a leader in scouting and went to school while working and raising my kids (you see where the excuse of not exercising and not eating healthy is starting to show up)? Life changer was realizing going up the stairs in my own home was making me short of breath, bad news. So I made a goal to lose the weight and be back at my old weight of 140lbs by December 2017. Why a 2 year goal, well I figured at the age of 47 its going to take a bit to get the body in shape and to make sure I eat properly. With the support of two co-workers, one who use to be a fitness trainer, I began my new journey. I work on macronutrients, not calories because the macros (protein, carb & fat) help you more than calories. At least it's helping me. Exercise commenced as well and there were days, believe me, that I wanted to quit. Now I am switching up my exercise routines to challenge myself and not hit that plateau. I have a cheat meal once a week (1 1/2 hours to stuff your face full of what you want that meal) and it helps for during the week of not having the comfort food. The last couple of weeks I've had low carbs during dinner time to see if I can do it. It was a challenge presented to me and I accepted it. I still like my carbs, just not as often as I used to.

I think its great that everyone on here is being supportive of one another and kudos to those on this journey of healthy eating and exercise.

So I guess that's my introduction other than my name is Kerri, I'm 47 years old, female, lives in Alberta and if anyone wants to add me as a friend to be supportive of the journey they are on, please feel free to add me.
