Working out with sore joints

Hey Peeps
When my kids were younger I hurt my AC joint in my left shoulder because I was always carry babies around etc.
For the last few years I've lived a sedentary lifestyle so it hasn't bother me. Now I'm getting fit and active it's playing up.
I swim 3-4 days a week for cardio. The next day depending on the intensity it's maybe a 4/10 resting and a 6/10 if I move the wrong way.
I want to start weight training but I don't want to over do it and make it worse. Can I strap it or is there any other advice out there?

No not yet. I've just been managing it because it's not too bad. On the other hand I don't want to make it worse.0
