Fasting after 8pm

Hi all,
I've seen on a few past posts that people have fasted from say 8pm - 12 noon. Can anyone give me any info on the benefits of this? I've always had breakfast even when I not hungry because I thought it was a good metabolism boost. So if anyone has experience of not eating between 8pm and 12 noon I'd be interested to know more? :-)
Cheers!

The only benefit is that you can eat more between 12 to 8pm since you haven't eaten yet.0

It's all about daily calories. Does not matter when you eat them.
Fasting sets me up for bingeing.
Personally, I like the idea of small meals throughout the day with a bit of protein.
Breakfast for me is simply .75 cup of milk in my coffee (nothing big).0 -

This, but also, some people use intermittent fasting as a tool to control hunger. If you wait to eat every single day until 1pm, for example, eventually you stop feeling hungry at 9am. Because now your body is accustomed to being fed at 1, so it doesn't really bother bugging you about it til then. Pavlov's dog, do the same thing over and over and you can make your body expect it. This doesn't work for everyone and after doing it a while myself I found it to be just annoying and pointless. I wasn't ever hungry before 1pm, but it didn't make me eat less overall, and it didn't increase my athletic performance so it seemed like an unnecessary over-complication of what should really be a simple process. Eat less, lose weight, boom. Why go out of your way to add a bunch of arbitrary rules?0 -
I go bed at 8 pm and get up at 4 am in the morning. So I fast during that period. The only benefit is I can go to the gym at 5 am every morning. I prepare a protein shake at 4:15 am. I break the fast with that one.0
