New-ish. Moved away from WW

Kickstarted the change in my eating habits in mid-Dec (due to health and age). Joined Weight Watchers (free through work) at the end of Dec. Did well, but felt like I still didn't have a full grasp of nutrition. Logged back into this old MFP account. Started parallel tracking on WW and MFP. Moved away from logging on WW anymore, because I feel like my meals are more balanced and satisfying through MFP by just reading through all I can on the forums. I feel WW was not helping. I was shying away from healthy fats, buying sugar-free stuff, etc instead of just eating properly (with less chemicals, and in moderation.) Plus the meetings felt a hair "cultish" (I can only speak for my own.)

I am still losing steadily and gradually. So far 13lbs in 9 weeks. I'm very happy with this. :)

I moved off of WW too. For some reason that I can't quite pin down, it feels like there some fat shaming inherent in WW.

I can't do better if I feel bad about myself all the time. MFP feels more like my true philosophy.

I joined WW initially back in 2002 and lost almost 50 pounds. Over the years I gained back 35-40 pounds and re-joined WW (online only both time - just not a "meeting" girl ;) ) Then I found MFP! Cancelled my membership to WW and haven't even thought about going back! I've lost 35 pounds and am almost back to where I was in the spring of 2003. Still have a ways to go... but with MFP, I'll get there!

I agree. I'm happy it works for some folks. I just felt like I need more detailed knowledge of what I was putting in my body (looking at macros etc). And yes, it does feel like a little bit of fat shaming goes on. And a sense of "OMG I had ONE COOKIE!" embarrassment as well.

Same here. I lost 30 lbs back in 2009. But my company stopped the program (free), then I ended up gaining it all back plus more. I didn't feel like I learned anything about nutrition to sustain myself outside of the program. I feel like with MFP, I can.

I thought that was my imagination. I kind of felt like that w/OA too, although not fat shaming so much as non-abstinence because every time I "slipped up" and had a piece of white bread or some white rice or something sweet I had to start all over again counting my days of abstinence. Sometimes I just want a nice piece of French bread or a slice of apple pie.

Just don't talk about detoxes or Dr. Oz's newest find! Talk about shaming! <<eye roll>>

Once again I wish I had a "like" button!!
