PMS Lack of Control!

Hello everyone. I usually eat 1200-1600 calories per day, since I need to lose 8 kilograms, as approved by my nutritionist. However, during my PMS, it is incredible. I lack all control and go over 2000 calories. The worst is, I'm always hungry, I FEEL IT. I always listen to my body, and I don't engage in any emotional/stress eating. I am desperate for advice, really don't know what to do...

I sometimes switch to maintenance for a few days during my period, if my appetite increases. This way I feel full, and at least my numbers won't go up, even if I'm not losing any weight that week.

I'm the exact same way. The day before I start and the day I start, I could eat a horse! I figure it's my body's way of telling me I need nutrients. Soooo... Since the need for chocolate can be especially overwhelming, I get some of those Russell Stover sugar-free chocolates and make some chocolate pudding from avocado. Also, I find I want carbs something fierce, so I buy quinoa pasta instead of regular pasta and it's amazing. It's all about making smart swaps, filling up on protein and fibre. Little things make a big difference!

When my appetite spikes up premenstrually, I eat more normal foods at maintenance-level calories. If I were to use PMS as an excuse to eat hyper-palatable foods that aren't very filling, I would eatallthethings.

If you are specifically craving chocolate premenstrually, try a magnesium supplement.

    Your body is a liar.

Have a cup of tea or a glass of water and tell it to shut up.

The magnesium is a good idea too.

Sounds like a winning strategy to me! <3

I love this. It's great advice. Mine's starting tomorrow and I feel like gnawing my own arm off, but you're right...I know I've eaten enough today. :)
