What running shoes do you recommend?

I may go to Fleet Feet Sports this evening and invest in a new pair of running shoes....any suggestions in a brand and brand #?

Have them analyze your gait and recommend shoes based on what's appropriate for you.

In addition to addressing issues of pronation / supination you'll find differences in basic fit between brands and, depending on the shape of your foot, you may need a narrower heel or bigger toe box etc etc What works for me may be completely inappropriate for you.

Second the fitting. Best thing I ever did.

Definitely have them fit you. I personally swear by the Nike Vomeros for distance running and the Nike Pegasus as an everyday shoe, but I only chose both of these after a fitting.

I'm a brand new runner (training for my first 5K right now), but I looove my Fila skeletoe shoes (my picture is of the bottom of one of them :) ). I've been fitted before for running shoes (that I used to walk in), and for me at least, toe shoes beat regular running/walking shoes by a mile :) And I got them on sale for $30, compared to the $100+ I paid for my old pair at the specialty running store.

Toe shoes are kind of ugly lol, but you might want to try some on at the store-there's a few different brands out there and lots of people love them!

Get fitted at a running store. I forever had a pair of running shoes that I thought were awesome because of the brand...turns out they were to correct over pronation when in fact I under pronate...so they were causing me a lot of knee and hip issues. If you know whether you over pronate, under pronate, or are neutral just find a shoe you like and that is comfortable...if you don't know the above you need to find out before putting a bunch of miles and wear and tear on your body.
