Do they have to be eaten on the day they are earned or can I bank them all up throughout the week and use them at the weekend?

If you are hungry, then eat them the day of. It all depends on what you want and how would be able to track you banked exercise calories.

I would say it depends on what exactly you are doing. Properly fueling your fitness is important to recovery and to your performance and fitness gains...so if you're doing intensive workouts, your body really needs those nutrients and that energy now, not days from now. But like I said, it really depends on what you're doing and how intensive your training is.

There's a big difference between, say training for a century and the kind of work that is going to go into that vs. spending 30-60 minutes getting in some good cardio on the elliptical. The former is going to be a lot more stress on the body and require a greater adherence to recovery nutrition. With the latter I wouldn't see much issue in "banking" calories.

    Pretty much this.
