I'm in the same boat as you are, trying to make sure that I'm not losing just weight but fat. If you are in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. If you are getting enough protein (.5g-1g per pound of LMM) and hitting the weights hard your body will keep the muscle just for the simple fact that it knows you are using it. If you are maintaining or even gaining strength while in a caloric deficit, fat loss (not just weight loss) will occur. It just takes longer!!!

Weightlifting should always be the priority, done first and most often, THEN cardio when you have time. Keep carbs under 100 grams/day, and consume protein at the rate of .7 grams per pound LEAN BODY MASS, per day.
