Take measurements and don't just focus the scale. You may also want to consider cleansing/fasting. I dropped 4lbs this past week doing a 48 hour cleanse.

Congratulations: you dropped the contents of your intestinal tract ~1.5+lbs. And ~1.5bs of glycogen (which is made out of about 0.4lbs carbohydrates and 1.2lbs water). And about 0.5 to 1lb of fat, maybe.

Out of all that everything but the 0.5 to 1lb of fat will come back a few days after you start eating again.

Taking measurements, on the other hand, is a definitely good idea. Assuming you take them in a way that is repeatable in terms of the tightness and location of the measuring tape.

@PAV8888 I agree the majority of my weight loss was water weight but when you cleanse often enough that .5 - 1lb adds up in slow increments and over a few months of time you can both see and measure the difference. I know it isn't for everyone but I have seen it work for so many people. Please note as well I am not talking about nor I do advocate colon/intestinal cleanses.

There is absolutely no reason to do something that extreme and unpleasant. OP is trying to lose 10-15 lbs of vanity weight. She can do that in a sane and healthy manner while eating real food. There is no such thing as a "cleanse" and a fast is unnecessary.

All a "cleanse" does is flush fecal matter and water from your body. Doing a cleanse often enough will not result in permanent weight loss, but it could result in bacterial imbalance and edema (excessive water collection by the body).

Doing a cleanse would result in temporarily feeling slimmer and is often followed by feeling bloated. This is because the body is putting significant effort in restoring the water/electrolyte balance as well as the bacterial flora. The people who sell cleanses count on this rebound effect because it sells additional products. If you want that slimmer feel without wasting lots of money and rebounding try adding mint, lemon and cucumber to your water or diet. You'll keep your body's balance while reducing inflammation and water retention.
