[ELECTRONICS & LIGHTING] How to test if a socket is 3 way?

I've been suspecting that the ceiling fan in the kitchen is 3 way, though we've always had 1 way bulbs. Is there a way to test and find out? I've asked the LL, and he doesn't know either.
