I just searched "patience" because that is what I'm looking for and this thread came up but no responses!
Anyone out there have help with patience? I'm pretty Type A and like things to happen NOW (or better yet, yesterday) so even a pound a week seems painfully slow...0 -
I've been on this road since April 2011, and think I'm probably the LEAST patient person you'll ever meet. LOL
Just takes persistence and tenacity. A friend of mine once described tenacity as being "like a hair in a biscuit. You can spin that biscuit with that hair and it just won't let go."
Lost 120-ish pounds so far, and looking to lose about another 100.0 -
Hey there.....I guess it all depends on how you define "success". Looks like you have done a great job in loosing 30 pounds! That's awesome. I've lost 14, and have 36 to go. Sometimes I start feeling impatient.....but I know I'm doing this the RIGHT way. I'm learning how to eat healthy, exercise to feel great.....and the weight is coming off s l o w l y. BUT.....what's the other option?? Going back to overeating, being a slug, feeling miserable and out of control the time? Becoming a failure because the weight is coming off too slowly? NO WAY. Slow and steady wins the race, my friend! Just keep at it!! You're doing great!0

Remember the cliche it didnt take a day to put on and it's not going to take a day to take off. Remember you have to be healthy for the rest of your life, so there is no stopping point. There can be goals, but it's never going to be done. Remember you had to eat 3500 less calories to lose that one pound thats a huge deficit. The most successful weight loss is the one that took time that allowed your mind to catch up with your body. If you keep up the mindset you have to do this until you die that helps with the patience.0 -
I'm down 70lbs and it took me about 13 months to do so. That's about 5.5lbs a month. I've hit plateaus many times but I'm still going. You've just gotta keep thinking positive thoughts and you will succeed. You CAN and WILL do this! You didn't put the weight on overnight so it's not going to come off overnight. Try switching up your diet, workouts, etc if you feel your progress is moving too slowly. It's all about finding what works for you.
I'd definitely recommend the book 'The Secret' if you havent read it, and other books on The Law of Attraction or Positive Affirmations. They really help keep your head in the game!
Good luck and let me know if I can help!0 -
Between Oct. 2010 and August 2013, I lost 45 pounds (10 of them twice). In August 2013, I weighed 143 (5'11) and was pretty happy with myself, but lost more than I wanted so I had some "leeway". As of now, I'm about 155-157 on any given day. I didn't mean to gain THAT much. Trying to get 5 of it back off and it's not budging. Moral of this story. Your journey isn't over when the scale says the number you like. Your journey never actually ends. Because once you reach your goal, you need to maintain your goal and that is harder than you think. Don't rush it, I'm prove that even if you do reach goal, it's an on-going struggle.
Not to say it's not worth it, I'm happy I'm not 190 and in a size 16 anymore. But I would like my 4's and 6's to look and fit like they did last summer.
Don't rush. Learn all you can now. Adopt good habits, learn to love exercise and eating right. You'll trip up but you'll always get back to where you need to be!0
