So, I am kinda new to running. But was running 10 miles a day. I have bought some new shoes. Went to a running store had my gait analyzed. They recommended custom shoe inserts for $70. I bought them. I am now thinking of buying the same shoe so I have 2 pairs. Thoughts about custom shoe inserts?

Depending on the construct of your foot, they can be a godsend. When I was running cross country back in high school and college, I wouldn't dare run without my inserts - I suffered shin splints and multiple ankle sprains without them, and those inserts helped support my abnormally high arches and keep my feet angled correctly for running (they have a tendency to roll in due to my weak ankles).

Now as I don't run nearly as often (ie: when the Navy says I must run, I run, and not much else - the Chief's season destroyed my hip a couple of years ago with some torn ligaments and it hasn't been the same since), I don't bother with inserts. What little pleasure jogs I take aren't enough to put undue stress on my legs and my joints.

Guess what I'm saying is that if you note no strain on your feet and the joints in your legs, keep on keepin' on with those inserts.
