Re joined & lost 8 lbs in 10 days!

Hi.....started my lifestyle plan Feb. 1... Cut out sugars, alcohol, gluten, and focused on eating healthy foods like brown rice , proteins ,Veggies and fruit etc......scale budged about 2 lbs. My husband has type 2 diabetes and his sugars were elevated to approx 13-18( Canadian measurements), even with our "healthy"eating plan. We were introduced to Ketogenic diet plan, did a lot of research and decided we would both follow the plan....him, to reduce sugar levels and lose fat, me to reduce body fat! After 10 days of tracking on Fitness Pal, I've lost 8 lbs and my husbands sugars are 5.2-5.8, within the normal range and he has lost 9 lbs. it's so great to be able to adjust your macros in fitness pal and then just log your food for the day. Pre planning is important to stick to the plan and saving frequent meals, so that you can enter them quickly. We also check restaurant menus before we go out, to make sure they serve food that will allow us to stay with in our totals for the day. We increased our exercise by walking 45min plus most days and I joined a Barre class....killer workout...haha. We plan to follow a modified version of the ketogenic way of eating until we reach our goal weight and have it be our lifestyle for life.....Occasional, indulging in higher carbs eating for special occasions will be part of our plan. We do not feel deprived, enjoy and look forward to our meals and it's fun being a team together with the same goal. Will keep posting our successes!
