Hip pain after treadmill

After about a 5-6 months break from the gym I found myself back on the treadmill. I was only on there for 10 minutes as a warm up and now I have really bad hip pain in my right side. Is that normal after not working out for a long time? Can anyone help?

Have never really stretched before the treadmill. Maybe that's something I need to incorporate? I wouldn't even know where to start.
Also just an FYI not incline and most of the time it was just a fast walk on 6, I did about 2× 1 min runs on 12. Just want to get back to what I was. It's hard to be patient when you can't do your old routines lol0 -
Where is the pain? Joint? Front of the hip? Side? Back? Did it come on suddenly or gradually?0

I use to get terrible hip pain from the treadmill. I learned a few new stretches I could do, but buying new shoes really helped me out. On the treadmill during my cool down, I do a model-walk that really swishes my hips. Then I do some standing, lunging and sitting stretches that really open up the hips. Look up yoga stretches for runners.0

Hip flexor stretch above is really good and someone suggested clams also very good. Although shoe choice could be a problem I switch to 0-4mm heel to toe drop shoes because the angle most traditional running shoes put your foot and hip in are not natural and results in plantar fasciitis and a lot of knee issues. Check out hoka one ones if you need support and cushion or inov8 if you don't0

Not sure what 6 or 12 equals speed-wise but you need to warm up. Don't jump on the treadmill and start fast walking/running straightaway. Especially not after not working out for months.0 -
Thankyou! I will try some of the lunges above before my next trip to the gym. I've never had anything like this happen before. It's on the side but feels like the joint not the muscle but I could be wrong.0

My friend had something that sounded similar. It never went away and she finally went to a doctor. She has bursitis. Don't know much beyond that.0
