My goal is to loose weight. I have a gym membership. I do weight training and a lot of cardio with a diet. Will lifting weights make me gain more weight?

Weight loss is from eating fewer calories than your body uses.

You won't gain weight (or muscle) eating at a deficit.

Weight is lost in the kitchen, not the gym. Concentrate on accurately logging your intake. Weigh solid foods and only use measuring cups/spoons for liquids.

You need a calorie surplus to gain weight. What lifting will do while you're in a deficit is ensure your body is holding on to as much muscle as possible, so you're losing fat rather than a mix of both.

You'll probably gain some muscle but no where near what the stereotypes say. Maybe about .25lbs of muscle a week if you're eating a calorie surplus and doing weight training. If you're in a calorie deficit you'll most likely only be losing weight since its relatively impossible to lose weight while gaining muscle. I suggest getting to your goal weight then up your calories and continue strength training if you're going for that "toned" look.
