Can I work out too much

I do a 30 minute boot camp 5 days per week. I do yoga 2x per week if I can and I run in a couch to 5k training program. I was told that's too much and that it can act in reverse and make me gain weight.
Is that true?

Exercising will not make you gain weight. Sometimes you may retain water for muscle repair, yes, but that's all temporary. The only way to truly gain weight is to be eating more calories than your body burns.

That being said, over-exercising can lead to muscle fatigue and injury, so make sure you take a rest day or two.

Definitely possible to over-train with various results - injury, exhaustion if you can't enough to match/fuel the workouts, and some say even weight gain if you are over stressing your body. Kinda depends.

What you've described here doesn't sound like too much to me, provided you're not on bare minimum cals.

But if you're staying in a reasonable calorie deficit, feeling good and strong to get through workouts and daily life, you should be able to lose weight and maintain your workout schedule I would think.

    Hope that helps!

It's certainly possible but your routine doesn't sound like anything over the top. Pay attention to how you feel and how you perform.

Your muscles need time to repair after alot of hard exercise. You know your body and when you need a break. If all you are doing is running with yoga then you probably are fine...yoga is considered almost active rest.
With that being said, you can get burnt out after awhile so a break or change in exercise once in awhile can help with that.

Yes, a person can work out too much. Which will lead to exhaustion and injuries. But in your case, unless you went from completely sedentary to this routine in a couple of weeks, you are nowhere close to too much.

Yes, you can over train. No, you are nowhere near overtraining. And exercise does not lead to weight gain. Calorie excess leads to weight gain.

This might be verbatim what I would have typed so I will just quote this and say "I agree with @furmickc".
