Doesn't make much sense?

So this past two weeks I've been recording my weight with happy scale daily and have seen the daily fluctuations and overall I have lost about 1.5 which to me is good! The scale was mostly set at between 136.2-136.6 all last week. My deficit is set to lose .5 a week and so I've done pretty well on that. But Saturdays I tend to set it to maintenance calories bc I tend to go out with friends, out to dinner, etc so its just easier this way. Now when I've weighed in its been 139.2, 138.2, and this morning I was at 137.8! It really wouldnt make sense that I would have gained over the weekend and it is probably just normal fluctuations and my body just readjusting to this weekends food/alcohol intake but it worries me. My period starts in less then a week so it could be affecting it also? I have really been carefully weighing everything out I put in my mouth and I barely eat back my exercise calories as it is.

I can fluctuate by 2lb from morning to evening alone... They are usually not true gains, just water fluctuations after salty meals, water retention around TOTM etc.

I really hope so because I have been working so hard for the past month between working out almost every single day to really weighing every single thing and logging everything I put in my mouth it would suck if I gained. :/ Two years ago I never weighed a single thing and mostly eyeballed my portions and still somehow lost at a much quicker rate (I also used to "cheat" friday nights and all day on saturdays) and still somehow lose every week! Its kind of frustrating.

My weight loss isn't linear and bears little correlation with eating and training sometimes. One week I only lose 0.4lb and another week you get a 2lb "whoosh" out of nowhere. It's just the way it goes.

If you are confident that you accurately log everything you eat, and you know accurately how many calories you burn (rather than overestimate) then you will lose eventually.

Why do you reset to 'maintenance' calories instead of just eating what you want that day and recording it so that you can see how many calories 'over' your treat day took you?
I tend to look at the weekly totals as I go, and make sure that what I'm eating balances out. (And yes, I tend to weigh more the day after a splurge because my splurges are usually salty tasty goodness that cause me to retain water.) ;)

Its just easier to me, someone on here gave me the advice to do that and its seemed to be working so far. But what worries me is that it has been two days since and I havent gone back down to my "current" weight fluctuations.

You only have two weeks of data to work with and one weekend where you may have had more carbs and sodium than usual combined with TOM coming up. This small bounce up is totally normal under all those circumstances. Relax and reassess the data in more like 6-8 weeks to get a true picture of your body's natural rhythms.

I always gain a few pounds after a weekend of drinking, and it is mighty discouraging but a reality nevertheless.
