Water Retention

Hi all. I love MFP and have managed to maintain my weight using it, I have now decided to attempt to take the 15 lbs off I have put off for a while. 2 months ago I dramatically cut back on alcohol, increased my exercise dramatically and added in weight lifting. Based on my calorie tracking I should have lost about 2 lbs... (I go slow because if I cut too dramatically I binge). HOWEVER I have gained about 5, based on how I feel several if not all of the weight is water. It's incredibly uncomfortable and discouraging. My fitness level and running has improved so I know I am building muscle, but it seems my body has to work so hard to recover it holds onto fluids? Sorry for the convoluted message, desperate for assistance. I eat relatively clean, lots of veggies, lots of water, protein and fiber. My biggest fault is sugar and sweets.

THANK YOU! I have a microsoft band and it has a heart rate monitor on it, I have considered the fact that I am eating too many calories back. So I will cut back to eating 25-50% and i didn't realize you shouldn't count well weight training! Also, YES I NEED a food scale, getting it today. THANK YOU AGAIN!
