Calories in rice!

Hi. I've been having trouble finding accurate calorie amounts for rice. It says stuff like 2oz for pasta or rice sometimes and I'm lost. If I get great value white rice or long grain rice and cook on stove top how many calories are in one cup cooked? Thanks!

    Weigh it raw

You weigh the grains raw then cook. You can weigh it again if you want, but there's no need to. The water cooking in doesn't add Cals. So weight out your raw portion and log that :)

The Calories in cooked rice depends on how much water, which has zero calories, the raw rice absorbs.

On average, 1 cup (158g) of cooked rice will be about 205 Calories.

Weigh it raw then dry to see how much it weighs cooked... handy if you want to make extra for leftovers (because who only cooks one serving of rice?).

I wouldn't use MFP entries for cooked rice... in my experience it can be 20% off or something depending on how long you cook your rice and what variety you use.
