Quitting smoking, circuit training and weight loss-help:)

Hi People!
I am 31 days smoke-free! This is a huge win as I was a very heavy smoker. I have been doing circuit style training at a strength and conditioning gym for the past month as well. It's mostly HIIT style. One leg stranded deadlifts, planks, goblet squats, push ups, TRX rows, sled pushes ( all weighted). I do this 3 times a week. I throw in some walking/hiking when I can. The first week, I was mostly walking to help with the DOMS. I am 39, keeping about a 500 calorie food deficit. I have lost 3lbs. This great considering the effect the quitting has had on my metabolism. I am already stronger and adding weights every workout.
My question is, has anyone quit and successfully lost weight? At some point , will I get that "swoosh" of weight loss when I have more muscle to burn more calories at rest? I am proud of my accomplishments so far and will continue regardless, just looking for others that have done the same.
Thanks!!
