My weight pattern tends to go like this: Up for 1 day, down 2lbs the next, then back up 3lbs todays later...and again up, down, down, down then up, then down. I know i shouldn't weigh myself each day, but that's a bad habit i need to stop. I just don't understand why i would be up in weight espcially 2.5 lbs from one day to the next, when i've stayed within my caloric range, or i've had a caloric deficit.

Pretty normal. Weighing daily not a bad habit unless it causes you undue stress. I prefer to weigh every day as it keeps me accountable and on track. I log it into an app called Libra. You should see the graph. Its like a rollercoaster. Perfectly normal. Salt, water, backed up poop, so many things can cause you to temporarily "gain" .

Thank you. Yes I prefer to weigh myself each day, it does keep me accountable. It bothers me a bit when people tell me not too b.c I feel i need to do that in order to keep on track. Knowing that fluctuations are normal makes me feel better a bit. Thank you.

If you have a smartphone check out a weight trend app. It's nice to use to input your weight each day, and it will show your general trend, whether up or down. For iOS use Happy Scale, and for Android use Libra like the poster above said. It will give you a better representation of your weight loss and won't make you stress about the daily changes in weight.

My weight has varied daily from anywhere between less than a pound to almost 7 lbs heavier. It all depends on what you're eating, your sodium intake, and a host of other daily issues.
