I started a LFHC diet on the 5th of January and have already dropped from 303 to 286.I eat well and replace 1 meal (most days) with Syntha-6 protien and drink 20+/- cups of water a day along with ON Amino Energy (to replace any sugary bad decisions). Is there a safe, natural, vitamin or nutrient that I can add to my diet to aid in the weight loss? Thanks in advance!

    No there isn't. Sorry.

however you achieve it, weight loss is about calories. Sure, some people use different techniques to hit their calorie targets and some people find that some techniques (diets) help them stay compliant, but it all boils down to the calories.

Not proven scientifically. Certain herbs etc are said to help. B vitamins for energy. Cayenne for metabolism. Cinnamon to lower blood sugar. And so on. Take a stop in any drugstore and you will see the variety. The key is, you can have something safe but not necessarily effective and visa versa, so its in my interest to not suggest anything in particular and let me make your own decisions so you have no one to blame but yourself if it doesn't work or causes you undesirable side effects

Most of the ones on the market are basically expensive caffeine pills. The other ingredients aren't proven effective in human studies. The few weight loss supplements that have hit the market that are effective tend to contain ingredients that are banned (often due to severe damage to liver and/or kidneys) and the supplements end up pulled from the shelves.

I work at an organic market selling vitamins and supplements.

CLA works for a lot of people (helps to lose body fat). I have read some studies on it as well, so there seems to be backing in the scientific community. You can read more online. I get a lot of men/women who are training for various body building competitions who swear by it.

I have yet to see a study supporting the effectiveness of raspberry ketones in humans.

I get mixed reviews on green coffee bean and garcinia cambogia (more so to control hunger). I've never done my own research into this.

Green tea extract (EGCG-Epigallocatechin gallate), which is said to boost metabolism. I have read quite a few studies on green tea and breast cancer prevention, but i haven't look too far into the weight loss area yet. Green Tea is amazing in general.

Bullet proof coffee. I have trouble wrapping my head around how this works for weight loss. I've emailed the company my questions and they will not directly answer them and they do not provide training's, so i cannot ask my questions in person either. I think its crap, but i could be proved wrong in the future.

I don't feel any supplements will work alone. To be effective you must be eating well and exercising, just as you are. (I get a lot of customers who want a quick fix with a pill ugh).

No. Too many so called remedies can mess you up with bad side effects. If they help at all, it's only a few pounds of water weight that come right back.

@thomas_geist you're energy and time is finite and there things which are worth putting your time and effort into and things which are not.

Worth it: Diet, exercise, eating good quality foods, having some of your favorite foods on occasion.

Not worth it: Investigating short cuts, pseudo science and snake oils.

Stick to the basics - They work (and have done so far with your 17lb loss).

If there was a safe and effective (even to only a small degree) supplement for fat loss half the developed world would be taking it: Governments would want to put it in the water supply - If only to reduce the crushing costs that obesity cause.
