Saturated fats, are they really that bad?

One of the biggest question marks I've had over the period of my weight loss journey was the role of saturated fats. There seems to be an awful lot of confusion over whether it's really as bad for you as once thought.
The reason I ask is that I want to introduce a higher egg intake to my diet, for a few months as part of a bulking program.

Saturated fats are fine, just don't over do it. Everything in balance...0

Once I spotted that the level of sat fat in the blood wasn't strongly linked to sat fat in the diet I stopped thinking about it.0

Saturated fats are fine for most people. A sall minority will see their cholesterol negatively affected when saturated fats are high (in the absence of high carb) but usually they are fine unless you are eating high carb too.0

Everything in moderation. I am for 50% of my calories to come from fat, and yes, sometimes that includes Saturated fat. Heck, I had eggs and NY strip steak for breakfast, I'm clearly not scared of fat in my diet
Of course, I'm Paleo, so there's that.

This is not great advice. The yolk is where almost all of the nutrition is. Sure, if you want a big huge omelet maybe use just 2-3 whole eggs and then some egg whites to round it out to save some calories, but I would never ditch the yolks on the regular and miss out on that nutritional punch.0 -

Sorry guys, obviously didn't put that across properly. I didn't say give up yolks altogether, I start the day with 1 whole egg and 4 egg white omelette. If I was to eat 5 whole eggs, the fat content can range anywhere from 25 to 35g to 20g of protein, one yolk equates to about 3-6g of fat to 20g of protein which i like the sound of much more. Still retaining the nutrients from the yolk, keeping it low fat and not to mention the high cholesterol level removed something we should all be watching.0 -

This ^^
They never were "that bad". They are and always have been fine to consume in moderation. The advice was to eat less because in general (as a population) we were eating too much. It was the media that spun that into 'saturated fat is bad.'0
