I Now Weigh Out My Protein Powder!

I've been incorrectly using the scoop that my Promasil Protein Powder comes with...for years!

I decided to weigh it out today just to see how accurate it was. The 28 gram scoop came in at only 17.5 grams! So I've been logging one scoop for many, many moons...while only consuming .625 of a scoop. Over one week that's almost 500 calories logged but not consumed.

What is your experience with this?

My experience is that the scoop gives me almost double what my serving size should be. I am a definite advocate for weighing it out -- I don't trust the scoops at all.

Mines all over the place, the scoop should be 33g of powder. Some times it's only 24ish, sometimes 40 + .

    Got to love the scales.

I filled in 3/4 of a scoop of Quest powder earlier and put it in my oatmeal... 38g. A serving is one scoop... 31g.

You bet I weigh everything now!

For the brand I have, the scoop is very accurate. If I fill it and make the top flat, it's exactly 28 grams like it's supposed to be. I still weigh it though

I don't know why, but I totally read the title of your thread as "I Now Out Weigh My Protein Powder." I was curious as to how that could happen. silly me.

scales are really the only way to go. i got mine for $15, and it should be one of the first things someone counting calories should buy, IMO.

After 11 years of trying and weighing most of the powders on the market I can say that has never happened for me. Every scoop is different in the same tub.
I flat knife the top and it is still never the same.

Only way to measure, cups stink. Too high too low they're always off. I've started weighing the dogs food. New bag and it's heavier, much less needed.

    I weigh protein powder.

Remember, you've been consistent with this. So if you are adding more and weighing it properly, you'll need to reduce elsewhere if you have been hitting your goals as far as rate of loss or maintenance.

I weigh mine just out of habit but find the scoop very, very accurate (+-1 g). I use ON whey. Not sure why that is so different between brands?
