Absolutely. This book has really given me a great foundation and my only regret is that I didn't read it 14 months ago when I started my health journey. I recommend this book to everyone I know and I haven't even finished it yet lol

WOW Congrats! I started lifting weights over 5 years ago and always wonder why I was making "Gains" like I felt I should but it really came down to me following magazines and garbage nutrition.

Yea I spent all last year out of the gym just counting calories and cardio, than started weight lifting in December, did 2 months of trying my own exercises and making my own plan with little to no gains, now less than a week into bls advice combined with stronglifts 5x5 program and I'm already making gains.

BLS (and TLS) was my intro to weightlifting. I read it cover to cover and made do with dumbbells for 2 weeks. After that, I got an Oly bar and things just took off. Knowing what I know now, I'm not sure it was best to follow his 5-day body part split as a newbie. And I didn't do well on his low-fat/high-carb eating plan. That being said, it still changed my life!

What sorts of mistakes? I read it a couple of years ago and don't remember those specifics. My big take away from it was nutrient timing, but IMO, that's a very small aspect to the bigger picture that determines success.

I don't really know what you're looking for, but I highly recommend BLS for anyone who's interested in a better physique. It helps with a lot with not only training and nutrition, but the intangibles as well - overcoming mental barriers that prevent so many from making progress and maintaining it.

I knew most of what I read in the book already, but it was good to see that information verified, and there were of course some gaps in my understanding that BLS filled in very well.

This is exactly how I felt, I haven't made it to the actual training of bls yet and even thou I'm going to read it cover to cover right now I'm happy with my stronglifts program, for me it was the nutritional side and the mental health side of the book that has really impressed me. I had a small foundation of what I read just by this forum and bodybuilding.com but it was nice to see verification and dig in deeper to questions I had

Great book helped me realize how important it is to actually break down your macros and count your intake
