Losing weight while TTC!

Any other ladies who are trying to lose weight because of fertility issues? I am 23, 240 pounds, and have PCOS. Have been ttc since April of 2015 with no luck. I've decided that since starting metformin ( which makes you uncomfortable after eating certain foods) I'm going to not only eat healthier, but try to exercise to lose 80 pounds and HOPE that it helps me to conceive.

Me! I have PCOS as well and am ttc. We did get pregnant last October but sadly miscarried. We plan to really start trying again this summer but until then I am hoping that I can lose about 20-30 lbs and increase my intake of fertility boosting foods! I am using mfp to track my progress and keep me motivated. I take metformin as well and have been for many years. Even though I have PCOS I have a very regular 27/28 day cycle. Losing weight does assist with fertility and I am very hopeful. Are you using any other exercise, tracking apps? I use the app glow to track my cycle and I have a fitbit! Good luck to you! Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. I definitely appreciate the encouragement of others going through the same thing.

I am in a similar situation. Been trying for several months, don't ovulate on my own, so now on my first round of Clomid. I'm getting pretty discouraged, so I've decided to try to lose some weight and see if it helps!

I am trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds I regained over the holidays. I was previously in maintenance mode. We are quietly TTC and I worry my body won't conceive while trying to lose weight.

I am currently using Ovia, Clue, and Glow to track my cycles.

I'm 4 weeks (found out very early thanks to my worrisome doctor! haha) and conceived while losing weight pretty dramatically. I've been on BC for 5 years through January so no known fertility issues, but first try succeeded while/after losing 24 lbs in the preceding 60 days. I was in the obese category and wanted to lose weight beforehand to hopefully start off a pregnancy on a healthier foot. Currently 160lbs 5'2" and 24.

Congrats Blancoms! That's encouraging news. How did you manage to lose 24lbs in 69 days, that's awesome.

We have been ttc since January, I know it's not long in the grand scheme of things, but every cycle is a little more disheartening. We have a four year old who was concieved first cycle so this is all a bit new. I am trying to lose weight to help concieve, wish I had started earlier and more seriously. I need to lose 15-20lbs to be in the "healthy" bmi range, so that's the big push right now.

I use Clue for tracking too.
  • Hi All,
I'm trying to get down to a normal BMI (need to lose 20lbs) before I go on Clomid. My doctor wants to put me on it now, but I want the best chance possible. Feel free to message me - I need people to help me keep on track!

Hi everyone -I just started my 1st round of Clomid. I'm 41, no children (yet!), 5"10" and 200#. 1 early loss and 1 blighted ovum. Booo. I'm really hoping Clomid works, and I know that being in better shape and being lighter will make for a more comfortable and hopefully successful pregnancy. I'ts nice to know that I'm not alone in the infertility/weight loss area. Feel free to add me. :-)

I am not sure if this thread is still active... but Hi. I'm Kate. I am 30 years old and... weight just under 300lbs. I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 2013. My husband and I have been TTC for about a year and a half now. We have already gone through 3 rounds of clomid, multiple ultrasounds, HSG's, and having sperm tested. Soon we will most likely be referred to a specialist. Unfortunately I am worried about the costs, and am hoping that if I can get down to a healthier weight we will have better luck. I'm always looking for inspiration and encouragement. Feel free to add me!

I'm not sure this is still an active thread but thought I would reply and introduce myself. I'm Diana, 31 years old, I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2004, and I've been TTC for over 10 years. I've tried it all: metformin, fertility pills, injection, and still TTC by IUI. I still have 91lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight. I need help staying motivated and staying on track. I have been on the Merry-go-round for what seems like forever! I recently found HASfit workout videos on YouTube and LOVE them. They are free. I'm not not trying to promote or sell anything just found something that with a diet is working for me (when I workout). I have started a weight loss journal and it's one of the most relaxin and amazing things I have tried so far! Anyways I would love to get to know some of you ladies. Maybe we can help one another stay motivated! Feel free to add me! Regardless of your journey, I wish you all luck!

So. We have decided to return to the fertility clinic that helped bless us with our miracle baby almost 2 years ago to try for a little brother or sister. I am now having a hard time keeping to my routine of calorie monitoring as I have just convinced myself that I shouldn't suffer since I will just be gaining weight soon when I get pregnant (**fingers crossed**) so what is the point of trying to lose weight now. Someone kick me in the butt?

Losing weight now means you will weigh less overall while pregnant, which can help prevent gestational diabetes and other pregnancy complications. It can also help with the discomfort of pregnancy and the difficulty of labo. Plus, it will be easier to get back to your goal weight post-baby! :)

Hi everyone! We are about to start TTC again. We tried for 2 years, resulting in two losses, so I took a break for my mental and physical health. I have undiagnosed infertility and became pregnant both times using Clomid and trigger shots. My goal weight is 140, but my short term goal is 160 because both times I got pregnant, I had just dropped under the 160 threshold.

    Good luck to everyone!
