WTF? A serving is 2T. Have you ever tried to put croutons into a tablespoon measuring spoon...

Let's get real crouton companies. Can we stop fooling ourselves with the 2T and just say you get 4 f***ing measly croutons!

Why even eat them? They son't do anything for you nutritionally, and the store-bought ones are usually full of preservatives, artificial ingredients and fat. If you want something crunchy in your salad, try 28 grams (1serving) of slivered almonds. Dry roasted, not raw. Yummy.

A serving size should actually be in grams. Definitely something to weigh.

Also, you should be weighing them, not trying to measure with a measuring spoon. Does the package give you the weight in grams in parentheses next to the 2T?

But why NOT eat them if you like them?

I personally would not even use my discretionary calories on them though. I could have a couple oreos or a small serving of ice cream for the dang calories of some croutons. Full of delicious artificial ingredients and fat, mind you.

If I'm using actual croutons I like to crumbled them fine on top of the salad to get the small crunch and flavor without using a whole crouton every bite. Or I'll use dried edamame, chickpea, or enlightened broad beans as my crunch topping(: all are high protein and fiber and taste amazing(:

Oreos or ice cream beats croutons in my book! Just saying that croutons may be something easy to cut from your calories, especially when you can spend those same calories eating something that won't make you feel deprived.

Ugh I hate croutons. Fillin' up my plate with calories that are so not worth it. I always pick those crusty things out.

If you're into that though, you should definitely weigh them and go by however many grams they call a serving.

lol I did buy a pre made salad the other day that had croutons on it, thinking I'd ditch them. It's been so long since I had some. I took a bite and was like-oh man. I need to save a few of these lol. But honestly I'm not being very careful with my logging right now, knowingly.

Honestly sometimes its seeds or nuts but today I wanted croutons. Please don't beat me up over not picking the "cleanest food choice"

Honestly if I have the room in my plan and log it in who cares if I have croutons or a crushed Girl Scout cookie on my salad.

I was thinking the same thing, especially the larger croutons. Thankfully I have a scale and weigh them out, but it's pretty sad - I think I end up logging 3 portions when I make my salad.

The best croutons are the ones at Ruby Tuesday. Oh my goodness, so good!

Plus its not the fat that I am worried about it's the sugar...so a cookie is worse for me with PCOS than a few croutons.

As long as I log it and lose weight, it's all good. I am never going to be a weightlifting bikini model

Well, you can still eat croutons, lose weight, and look hot in a bikini luckily :)

Nothing wrong with eating croutons if they fit in your calorie allotment. Just weigh them.

I use sun flower seeds on my salads. They sell them in 2 pound bags either salted or plain. Crunchy and full of protein, good fat. I think the bags were $2.99.
