Hi all i am new on here so a big hello to everyone...
I am also very new to low carb diets. I am just stuck on the basic rules of low carb diets i know from reading and youtube that of course carbs need to be low i think under 30g a day if that is rite i am not 100% sure. Sugar needs to be as low as possible as well? I just started it today and for my lunch i made a 3 egg omelette. My diary is open for you all to view carbs were 6 sugar was 2 is that a ok sort of meal to eat? My problem really is i love apples and bananas which i have been reading i can not have. So i am stuck on what veg and fruit i can have. Any help of tips i would be so great full thanks guys.

I don't worry about sugar because there are many benefits from eating fruit regardless of its natural sugar. Focus on eating protein.0

Go to Atkins.com and read! It was really helpful for me when I was doing low carb!0

I think the key thing for you to remember is that not all carbs are created equal. It is better for you to enjoy good fruits like bananas and apples than to stay away from all fruits. The complex natural sugars in fruit are better than if you eat a candy bar. I have done low carb (south beach) and they teach you to eat the right carbs and to watch your body's reaction to each one. If eating cereal makes you want to binge than don't eat cereal: however, if you can eat bananas and apples and not go crazy and over eat them, then you should be able to have at least one per day.
I hope this helps. Good luck!0 -
+1 for looking at Atkins.com for an example plan.
You put sugar in your tea and used honey - those are carbohydrates and happen also to be sugars. Is low carb really for you ? A teaspoon of sugar is 4g of carbs and there aren't any in eggs so you can polish up your logging a bit.
Raspberries, strawberries, are lower carb. Banana isn't. Apple might be OK depending on your target.
Aiming for less than 100g would be a start, you may findit easier than diving in at the deep end at <30g.0 -

Yea i like to eat 1 apple and 1 banana per day just some thing i have always done i just did not know if the sugar in the fruits would mess up the low carb from working i am still working this stuff out. Thanks for your reply though+1 for looking at Atkins.com for an example plan.

I have only just started the low carbs today so trying to work things out. But all i have been doing for say 2 months is watching cals in and cals out which has been working for me i have lost about 1st.4lbs but i love my meat and cheese and eggs as well. And have found i am always hungry. So i thought i would see if the low carb diet was for me.I read high protein makes you feel full. As for honey i can take or leave it not a problem the sugar in the tea or coffee yes i agree not very good. What do you mean by polish up my logging i use the scanner to scan the barcode on the eggs and the sugar and just change the grams to what im using so mfp app is not 100% on the working out even when you use the barcode scanner on the packet???And how do you change in manualy? Thanks for the reply0
