Confused about pasta calories

250g dry pasta (half a pack) feeds 4 of us.
The packet says 346 kcal per 200 serving.
Surely it's not that few calories for half a packet, so does it mean 200g once it's been cooked, and has water in it?
If so, would 63g dry equal 200g cooked?

Something is not right. Usually all the kinds of pastas I buy are 340-380 calories per 100 grams dry. Are you sure the label says 200 g not 100?0

100g of dry pasta is in the region of 350/360 calories.
I have a packet of standard UK supermarket penne here that states "100g, cooked as per instructions - 147cal." and a packet of spaghetti that states "(cooked as directed) Per 100g /156kcal". So a 200g serving should be in the region of 280/310.
As for dry to cooked weight ratio it all depends on how you cook it, al dente is going to have less water content.
I've bothered to weigh it before and after twice, and came up with
200g of dry pasta weighed 420g cooked.
100g of dry pasta weighed 208g cooked.0 -
usually what's on the package of the pasta I buy is wet weight (after cooking/including absorbed water), so I think it would probably be 200grams cooked weight.0

Thanks all! I'll assume it's a mistake on the label then, and that I'm eating 346 x 0.63 = 218 kcal. Sounds much more reasonable!

Depends on what KIND of pasta.....0

Most pastas are for the raw weight unless otherwise stated. So uncooked weight. Cooked would never be consistent because everyone likes their pasta cooked differently meaning less or more water soaked in. I like mine a little chewy so I will have less water than Ppl who don't like theirs chewy. There are things that are weighed cooked but, it is specified on the label.0
