Just for today, I will log every calorie and drink 1 gallon of water.

    Congratulations for your resolution.
    I suggest buy yourself a food scale( if you do not have one), weigh everything you eat and log it at MFP
    Eating at a deficit (calories burned higher than calories ingested) will ensure decrease body weight
    And drink water for hydration
