Fitbit ZIP

Does anyone know if this is a good choice for workouts?? I know it monitors steps and calories burnt but will it work and calculate calories burned during my workouts?? I don't like the idea if wearing one on my wrist which is why I'm looking into the ZIP

    No it won't

It will be fine for jogging/running

But nothing measures calorie burn on workouts ...as in no HRM does ...so don't buy into those either that's not what they are designed for

Best to look up equivalent METS values or just take 50-75% MFP database allowance

Thanks! I've ordered myself a Polor watch & HR monitor as they are better for tracking workouts apparently

I have a polar ft4 with chest strap...it's a great piece of kit if used appropriately.

If you're looking for a calorie burn then it is effective for steady state cardio like running, rowing, elliptical

If you're looking to increase athletic performance then monitoring your HR is a great tool

But it will not give an accurate estimate for HIIT, calisthenics, yoga classes etc ...it's not designed to

I have a Fitbit zip too and use that to automatically adjust my activity level

But whatever you do track your body over 6-8 weeks and adjust based on how you are achieving your goals

    Good luck
