Hi so I always feel like if I go to the gym I will miss out on things with my friends so I always just end up not going because I don't want to miss out on any memories also what are other ways to deal with stress that dont involve eating?

Interesting. I get stressed when I'm supposed to hang with friends but need to go to the gym.

Take a walk outside.
Make a friend who likes to go to the gym with you.
How often do you hang out with friends anyway?0 -
Make new friends at the gym.
Invite your friends to the gym.
Plan your own outings.
Balance. It's never on or the other. Or at least it shouldn't be.
Lifting/gym time shouldn't be a part time job (unless your training for a marathon... That's different). There is plenty of time to do both.
I work three - four jobs and I still have time for my long distance relationship and time to hang out. There is time. Just gotta balance it out.0 -

You're in college, not middle school. Make time.0

You can afford to take time out of memory making to go exercise and you'll do it if it is a high enough priority for you.0 -
Life is about balance. If going to the gym isn't your thing, find activities with your friends that you can all enjoy together. Bike, run, hike.

God, I remember spending *so much* time with friends when I was at uni, yet was still at the gym most days, working 2 jobs, and, y'know, sometimes studying too...
This is a great time in your life to learn about balance, cos it only gets busier from here on out.
My favourite way of dealing with stress is exercise, funnily enough. So there you go, two birds, one stone.0 -
i hang out with my friends while i'm at the gym, that's what facebook between sets is for.0

I took it as the opposite. OP doesn't like missing out on social events to go to the gym. Arditarose doesn't like missing out on the gym to go to social events?0 -
I bet you could go to the gym a few times a week at 6 AM when you friends are sleeping. Also you could probably miss watching an episode of some soap opera in the afternoon with them and it wouldn't have a long term impact on your bonding with them.
Or as others have said, go the gym with them. My college age son works out with several friends, they push each other in the gym and get to be together.0 -
I find that working out helps relieve stress.
You know what you need to do, you just dont want to.0 -
Admit to yourself that if you're conflicted, fitness isn't your priority.
It takes commitment and consistency for results. Half measures won't work. If you would rather spend time with your friends, then spend time with your friends.0 -
then why are you concerned you will miss something? Do you have a tent where you camp out up your friends @ss that you need to be there ALL DAY.
cut the umbilical cord and go to the gym- no one in your life is so important that if you miss one hour of their life its going to be earthy shattering.
