Hi, I'm Dawn and just joined this site tonight. I've always weighed from 120 to 130 the mos; about year ago I gained around 80 lbs. I had problems with planter fasciitis and it got so bad that I had to have surgery and quit my job as a CNA. The pain that I suffered kept me from walking, and exercing because of the sever pain. It's been 4 months since my surgery , so I'm trying to walk and exercise again, I started walking a mile a day or alternating to the gym. I'm eating veggies and fruits, drinking water, and sometimes 5 calorie to go drink. I'm kinda confused on the carb counting thing, some websites tell you if you over weight to cut your carbs to 50 a day. I would like to get down to 120 again. I would appreciate any advice. I'm not a diabetic and I don't have any health issues.

You don't need to cut your carbs, you just need to eat in a deficit.

Use food scales, weight everything you eat.

You don't need to count carbs, or fat or sugar to lose weight. You just need to count calories. Let MFP figure out how many calories you should be eating and follow it. Weight loss does not have to be a punishment and you do not have to restrict certain types of food. If you really want to lose weight and keep it off, it's important to eat in a way that sustainable for the rest of your life. Can you see yourself, never eating bread again, for example, if you can't than don't give it up, make it fit into your calorie goal.
Also, exercise is great for your overall health, but it is not necessary to lose weight. Weight loss is simple math. Eat less calories than what your body burns.
