If my BMR is around 1650 and my incidental exercise is minimal so I have chosen sedentary..wouldn't my calorie intake to lose weight be less than 1650, not 1800 for (0.25kg per week weight loss goal)?

has mfp set you at 1800? trust the number it has given you. BMR doesn't include normal activity that we do in an average day, bmr is the rate if you were comatose/sleeping all day.0

and how much are you set to lose per week on that? honestly you will find eating those calories will be enough to help you lose. Alot of people think we have to half starve ourselves to lose but its just not true! we have to accurately log our foods, eat the calories set for us and be patient MFP's way works0

1800 supposedly equates to an 0.25kg weight loss. I tried to go for 0.5kg but I was too hungry!!0 -

I would say it is close, as the deficit is from your TDEE not BMR. Once you wake up, move, eat, etc, you burn more than bmr. for sedentary taht would be about 1.2ish time BMR or in your case about 2000 cals, if light active would be more. Your deficit would be from that number.0 -

Eat above your BMR but below your TDEE. Common mistake to think you cut from BMR.0
