Stride Length

I am trying to fine tune my Fitbit for stride length. For some reason Mapmyrun and my Fitbit are a little off on distance. Feels like Mapmyrun is closer however i have a Fitbit Surge and it has a GPS so I'd think the two would be the same.

anyways...I ran 2.98 Miles and 4368 steps per my Fitbit..so that is a stride length of 43" Can anyone confirm if that seems reasonable? Avg pace as 10:03 per mile.

unless you are 7 feet tall your stride length is probably not 43"

where is that 2.98 mile figure coming from? is it from MapMyRun or the surge?

Huh? You can use google maps to verify the distance you covered, and divide that by your steps to get an average, but why does it matter? If I really wanted to know I'd go to a track and count steps over 100 meters, not a long run.

both 2.98 miles and step count come from Surge. 3.04 miles on Mapmyrun with no step count recorded. and The reason i want to know is because there is a setting in your fitbit profile where you can record your walking and running stride length which is supposed to increase the accuracy.

I use Runtastic but have noticed some changes of where I hit my one and two mile marks. Not sure if it is related to a lag when I disconnect from wifi or what. It can be as much as about thirty yards. I have also had a different time and distance than the race clock at the finish line. Not a big difference but it makes you go Hmmmm

I just picked up a stepFX watch and it says the normal for 5'8" person is 25".... not sure if this is correct? it says you can measure your steps too. I'm 5'2" and I'm thinking a normal stride for me is anywheres between 20"-25" atleast I'm hoping I'm understanding this lol
