iOS 9.2.1; iPhone 6 - Health Steps Tracking accurate for stationary exercises?

Hi All,
I want to try tracking steps on the FitBit App that takes the raw data taken from the iPhone. Does anyone use the built-in Health app on iPhone for steps tracking and anyone know if this works well for cardio exercises done in place as opposed to moving forward (i.e. treadmill, zumba, Group X classes at 24h)?
Thanks!
