Who said 1200 is too low?

When I started using MFP I put in all info and it came up as 1200. For me, 1200 wasn't that bad, I managed to do it quite well + exercise. When I said I managed to do it quite well I mean I eat a lot of meats and veggies! No added sugar in my meal! Low carb! NO SNACK! And Yes it's quite filling because veggies are low calories so I got a lot of veggies to eat. I thought I was happy because I lost weight ok at 1200 - not starving :)

I saw many threads that most people said it made you starving and BLAH BLAH about I shouldn't eat 1200 because %%**+\€££*~~¥

I ignored them because I was not starving at all BUT I KNOW I DEEPLY MISS RICE AND BREAD POP CORN CHEESE CAKE MILK MILO SHORT BREAD AND {#%^£++%£<}%%>*** I just didn't admit it and been saying to myself that I'm healthy eating person, I don't need to eat those crap (which they aren't really crap, right?)

I managed to lose first 10kgs I was so happy then I think, alright maybe I should increase calories so I can have some more room for snacks! Say 1430cal? Then I will have 230cal a day for other snacks?

Some people said they lost better at higher cal then I should try? If I gain weight after a week then I just adjust back to 1200 again no worries.

I start eating my normal 1200 plus 230cal of snack (still exercise as normal, mainly walk 5kms a day 350cal burn and eat back 50%, If I don't walk I did some other weigh lifting exercise, push up, sit up too but not much - I exercise 4 times a week)

A week later my 1430, I jumped on scale! I lost 0.5kg! What?

Interesting, so I keep it going, weeks and weeks after I even snack more than 230cal, some day I snack 500-700cal and adjusted meals to fit in my calorie goal. I started to eat more carbs than ever! I had more POPCORN, BURGERS, FRENCH FRIES, CHEESE, CHOCOLATE!! BEER!!

Yes, some day I go over to nearly 2000cal but I will always make sure I do EXERCISE MORE if not same day, the next day I will exercise more than usual, if I don't get a chance to do exercise, I do house work, food preparation, cut up every veggies, rearrange my fridge, WHY NOT? It's burning as well right ;)

A month later I lost weight even more than before!! I lost better at 1430 than 1200, I don't know how did this happened but really, it happened!!!

In November last year, I weight 80kgs, as of this morning, I weight 65.5kgs. I lost 15kgs within 4 months I am very proud of myself! (I know it's a bit too quick according to some of you but I didn't expect to be this quick either).

I fully admit now that eating at 1200 is not that satisfied.

I'm happy now, I fit in my very old pants that I kept for so long as I always thought I WILL FIT IN THEM ONE DAY (for the last 7years).

Thanks for reading and sorry for my grammar. I hope this motivate some of you and good luck to everyone! Happy eating!

Well done you! Maybe, although you felt ok on 1200 calories, once you bumped the cals up you had more energy so even though eating more you were generally more active? Anyway, congratulations on your loss :)

this is nice to hear that what people say actually works! but trying to convince people that this is true when they are eating 1200 and losing weight (even if it is slowly) that they can lose more by eating more is difficult!

1200 calories (net) is suitable for some people.

Not sure if you were one of them - I guess not if you lost successfully at a higher calorie level.

Glad you found the right level for you. :)
