Meal size, macros, & timing? IF?

I was very tired yesterday and opted to lay in bed for an extra 40min instead of getting breakfast. I ended up just having tea (with milk) and a 1/3 cup of peanuts until 4pm when I got a meal. Weirdly I felt like waiting to eat a "real meal" helped me control my cravings.

I've always been very afraid of the idea of fasting, because not eating (or eating very low protein) can give me headaches & makes me feel unwell. But I felt fairly fine yesterday morning and for the first time in aaaaages I was able to comfortably stay under my calorie goal of 1410.

I thought I'd try to repeat the experiment today of waiting to eat a small breakfast until after 10:30am and having tea. It's going ok. I've had more than peanuts, but I don't feel ill & ive been eating sort of high protein.

Has anyone else tried different meal sizes & timings? What's worked for you? How has it helped compared to 3 "square" meals?

I've looked a little into intermittent fasting and the 16:8 looks like it could be doable.
