Jawbone Exercise Calorie Bonus

Hi!

I have a Jawbone Up24, which I love. But I rarely get "bonus" exercise calories IN MFP, unless I do a really long walk.

One of my friends just got a Jawbone, too, and even on days when I out walk her, she gets like a 600+ calorie exercise bonus and I don't. This is also without any workouts for both of us.

Is this a setting issue or something? Anyone know what's up? I'd love to know what's up :)

Thanks!

How many steps is it saying you do a day? What is your MFP activity level?

In MFP you set yourself to be at a certain activity level. Like I am set as sedentary. Sedentary for MFP is 3,000 steps. So if you don't get 3,000 steps it won't get you any extra (it should actually be subtracting, there is a setting in the APPS section for enabling negative calorie adjustment). If you set yourself as lightly active it's going to want a higher number, I think it might be 10k but I forget.

I have an UP3 (also Jawbone) and find it way overestimates my exercise calories, so maybe your friend's is just not calibrated properly like mine not be.

I think that it depends on your activity level in MFP. I have my activity level at sedentary and enabled negative calorie adjustments in MFP setting. This means if I lie around all day I lose a few calories, but on the whole I gain extra.
It will also depend on your relative weights, a heavier person will earn more calories for the same walk that a lighter person does.
