chicken breast, lentils, oats, brown rice and eggs are my absolute staples that I almost eat everyday. does anyone else have any cheap staples??

    This list probably has a lot cheaper sources of calories.

    Cheapest protein: Cook whole chickens in the crockpot (49-cents per pound on sale) and use everything but the bones to make chili. Package it in individual cups, freeze, and thaw as needed.
