I joined MFP in February 2009 - wanting to lose 80 Lbs.
I worked hard, exercised, ate my calories, and lost 36 Lbs in 7 months! I was almost half way to my goal - then the holidays hit. I live in WNY, and the weather here is cold and snowy, so any outdoor exercise is difficult (I don't ski.) Between Halloween and New Year, I gained ten pounds, but lost that again pretty easily. Around February 2010, I was having a lot of chronic pain issues. This put the brakes on any exercise routine I may have established. Honesly, I felt so rotten it seemed MFP, counting calories, and being constantly obsessed with what I ate became a real bother. I went pretty crazy - and consequently, gained back 20 Lbs in four months (it's really not that hard to do.)
So, here I am - June 2010 - turning over a new leaf.
Incidentally, I am ten pounds heavier than I was a year ago.
But, I am braver, and smarter, too. I'm on a gluten-free diet and that greatly improves my energy level, and my joints are (nearly) pain free. This adds a different element to my diet, but one I am sure I can accommodate. My goal is to eat cleanly, avoid sugar, feel better, and lose the weight.
Whew! With all that being said, does anyone have any good gluten-free recipes. What have you found works best for you? I want to eat clean, healthy foods, but some of them are so high in calories, I cringe.
Any suggestions???
