Whether or not we like it, certain terms have fixed meanings. For example, to be considered an "hourglass shape, " the bust and hips are roughly the same size and the waist is significantly smaller. The old standard used to be 10 inches smaller than the bust and hips, although I've seen some sources use smaller numbers. Only about 8% of the female population has this shape, per Wikipedia.
What matters is that you look good, but if your proportions are those of a pear and you claim that you are an hourglass, you can't be heard to complain when people point out you don't meet the definition.

I would rather be a "Banana", but I was late for body choosing event, and only "Pears" were left over...
They gave me this Bombshell from "Victoria's Secret" magic contraption though, and told me to wear it, so I would pretend to be in the 8% "Hourglass" category. HAHA
