Yes you do to lose weight. Regardless of what eating plan you choose, you will only achieve weightloss if you are in a calories deficit.

If you are losing weight you have a calorie deficit. Keto often brings a voluntary intake reduction and weight loss as a consequence.

You do not have to. Lots of people do keto as maintenance.

Your post was a little unclear, as you didn't specify if your goal is fat loss - and these quoted are both correct... if your intent is to lose weight, you have to have a caloric deficit. There is NO way around it, every single weight loss technique REQUIRES a caloric deficit in order to shed pounds.

However, you can eat Keto at any phase of your weight loss/management plan. I eat Keto (mostly ...intentionally "slipped" last night) and am maintaining. Just have to get the extra calories I need to achieve a maintenance level of caloric intake from fat sources instead of carb sources.

Ditto. A calorie deficit is needed to lose weight.

The nice thing about keto is that for some, mainly those of us with insulin resistance, find that we don't need quite as much of a deficit to lose weight, and gaining weight requires more calories, than is we were eating higher amounts of carbs. CICO holds true but the numbers may shift a small amount. Small....
