Bikini competitions, figure competitions, thick women in bikinis and skinny women is bikinis are all very different things. Bikini and figure competitors are at a very temporary and potentially unhealthy weight. "Thick" or "skinny" is going to be a matter of personal perceptions.
I personally don't enjoy watching the Arnold Classic or Olympia, even though I compete. The amount of steroids and diuretics taken by many/most competitors (even bikini) would shock most people. Bikini and figure are supposed to be the attainable look, yet almost nobody attains that without steroids.0 -

I actually wonder if it wouldn't be better to split them into separate categories and actually have "steroids allowed" and "steroids not allowed" competitions.0 -

They technically do. There are federations that are labeled as "natural" and the competitors sign waivers, go through polygraphs, and take urinalysis test to certify that they don't use. All of those can be beaten, but it does help even the playing field. I compete in natural federations, but I will also be competing in one that is not tested next year.0 -

Depends on the federation. Yes, some people take steroids and compete in natural shows. Sometimes they get caught and sometimes they don't. Having testing and having great judges helps level the playing field. It won't ever be "fair", but when you compete you know that going into it.0 -

Men's physique (similar to women's bikini) is meant to be the "attainable beach body" look. Which is why they wear shorts and the bikini girls' suits have separate tops and bottoms. I'd still like to see them in shorter shorts like this:
This way they have to do some legs rather be total curl bros.0 -
