Readjust your expectations. 20 lbs in 2 months is neither healthy nor sustainable. Crash dieting is a good way to look terrible at such events. Or maybe not even making it to the event because you've been hospitalized do to malnutrition and exhaustion.
You're far better of keeping to your calorie goal, doing thing healthily and finding a dress that fits and is flattering. Buy some Spanx if needed.
Also remember that everyone's attention will be on the bride.0 -
Eat in a reasonable deficit and in 2 months I'm sure you will rock that dress. Make sure your calorie counting is accurate, use a food scale.0

20lbs may be an unrealistic goal. Even at a 2lb loss per week which is pretty drastic, that would only total a 16lb loss over 2 months. I'd encourage you to invest in a food scale if you haven't already, weigh everything so you know you're not over eating. If you eat at a consistent deficit over the next 8 weeks in combination with exercise you will lose weight. Will you lose 20lbs? I can't say. But I can say you'll sure feel a whole lot better about yourself and rock that dress
Weightloss doesn't happen over night, use this wedding to motivate you and jump start your progress, and be sure to keep it up afterwards so you can rock them sexy dresses any time you want without feeling stressed or anxious
Good luck to you!0 -
Depending on how much you have to lose, 20lbs could happen. Is it the healthy standard? No. And you shouldn't do extra (VLCD, etc) to try and meet that goal, but I just lost my first 19.5lbs in 5.5 weeks following what MFP told me to do. Even still, 16lbs (2lbs/wk) would make a huge difference and I'm sure the dress would look great!0

That's just over 2 lbs. a week. It is totally doable. I would love to support you. Add me!0

I'd purchase a dress that fits and some good shapeware such as Spanx.0

You can eat sensible and still eat over the calorie amount needed to lose weight. If you have hit a wall you should start weighing all solid foods, measuring all liquids, and verify that your food entries are accurate.
Without knowing your height, weight and age it is hard to say if you can lose 20 lbs in two months. If you have 100 to lose, probably yes. If you have 30 to lose, probably not. I do know that if eat you at a calorie deficit, you will be lighter in two months! Good luck!0 -

Buy a dress that will fit you and don't worry about it. Have fun and remember -Chances are that nobody will even notice you or your weight.its about the people getting married, not the guests.0 -
Increase exercise and lower your calorie intake, especially if you've already been losing weight a and are now not losing. Make sure your stats are correct in MFP. While it is possible to lose 20 pounds in 2 months, it is not healthy and you will not be satisfied with the results as you will lose a lot of muscle. I lost 30 pounds in a month (not intentionally) and hate the amount of muscle I have lost, and feel like it has been harder to lose weight since that time. Just keep on a steady weightloss pace and buy a dress that fits you well, that you feel pretty in. Shape wear works well, but personally, I find it uncomfortable, and won't wear it if I'm going to an occasion that is supposed to be fun, as I don't want to be physically uncomfortable the entire time.
My husband and I ballroom dance, and went to a Christmas dance last year. There were a couple of girls in their twenties you attended, which I noticed because usually I'm the youngest person at these events. Two of the girls were with a normal bmi, and the third must have been over a hundred pounds overweight. The overweight girl wore a solid red dress that fit her well, and the other two were in pretty dresses that were too small for their size. You could tell the larger girl felt great in her dress, and because of the way it fit so well, she was hands down the most attractive out of the group. She was also having the most fun, as her friends were fido ting with their dresses the entire evening and didn't dance much because they hand to constantly adjust their dresses as they moved. I'm telling this story because I think it's more important to enjoy the event you're attending than be uncomfortable trying to look nice and miss out on the festivities. Also, it's really obvious when someone isn't comfortable in their clothes, and it makes other people uncomfortable. Go have a good time at the wedding - no one will notice you haven't hit your goal weight yet.0 -
Good luck. 2 lbs a week is a reality but you'll have to work hard for it.

If you've hit a wall, you're eating at maintenance.

First, I think that 20lbs in 2months is pretty unrealistic. But if you are really concerned about the plateau that you've hit, I would take a look at what you are eating. Your biggest calorie deficit is going to come from your diet, it's a lot easier to shave off 1,000 calories from your diet than it is to burn 1,000 calories in the gym. Are you weighing and measuring everything that you eat? You say that you've already lost some weight, have you readjusted your calorie goals? Are you eating back your exercise calories? I know that it sounds counterintuitive, but some times you need to eat more in order to lose weight.

Also, if you don't want to buy a dress for this event, I'd check out RentTheRunway.com.0
