So I've done the normal searching in the app and googling. I ate a GIANT bowl of pho ga (Vietnamese chicken noodle soup). Most sites are estimating 450 calories for a bowl but then later say the serving size is 1.5 cups or so. There's no way the normal GIANT bowl of pho is 1.5 cups but then again the soup is mostly water so what do you guys think? Anyone know the calories for a truly average serving (a giant sized bowl of soup )

I have no insight, just the comment that I have the same problem trying to work out the calories of laksa. Particularly as I don't consume all the soup, which tends to be the highest cal bit.

I guess too. 450 calories sounds about right. All the numbers regarding calories are just estimates, tracking your weight gives you an idea of your calorie intake.

I would figure it out by breaking down each of the components --- maybe 3 cups of chicken broth, 4-6 ounces of shredded chicken, 1-2 cups of rice noodles, soy sauce, bean sprouts, etc. pho may be high in sodium but other than that, it's very healthy in my opinion

Yep, that's how I do it.

American sized Pho? I did the numbers a couple of years ago and you have to consider the hoisin and Sriracha and the fact that you're not eating only 3 standard cups (or the laughable 1 1/2 above). Loaded with noodles and meat? It's likely 700-800 calories.

Ok now I'm thinking I should just estimate the amount of rice noodles since that's the high calorie item... Chicken broth and chicken being relatively low-cal

The bowl of pho I order has no more than 2 cups of broth with a cup of noodles loaded with low cal vegetables and 3 oz of chicken. 500 calories max. The huge bowl you are talking of my SO and I would split. So yea, 800 calories
