Hi all! Life is always unexpected. I was doing well. Learning to have a healthy relationship w food after 2 decades of eating disorders. Also learning to moderate exercise. Less running, some yoga, walking dogs. A better balance. Then... Fracture my foot (last June). In a walking boot for 3 months. Get back to a balance of yoga, walking, a little running and develop hip pain and difficulty walking. 6 months it's taken to diagnose a hip
Stress fracture. Now I'm using crutches/walker. I'm to stay off of it completely for 6 weeks. Getting tested for osteoporosis tomorrow. Just feeling really low. Now I'm back to having a hard time w not trying to control my food too much. I know the dangerous cycle of restriction and how it can lead to bingeing. I fear I'm heading back into that vortex. Trying not to be overwhelmed by my limitations. Meanwhile I want to be happy for my husband who is very focused on continuing to lose weight and meet his fitness goals. I don't want to compare myself to him, but it's hard. Any advice is greatly appreciated! I turn 45 on Wednesday. Not exactly how I thought I'd celebrate it!

You haven't stated what you current weight goals are in your post. Have you thought about eating at maintenance until the stress fracture is repaired? This will give you more calories to work with. You should talk to your doctor about how you should be eating during recovery.

Are you in therapy? A slippery slope, you need to get healthy regarding food. Hugs

I have been in therapy forever. Now I only see therapist 1 x month due to $$$. I was also cutting back bec was feeling capable more of the time. I don't feel I'm in a hole yet. Just trying to be aware and notice signs and recognize when I may be at greater risk for using poor coping. There will always be stressful things that occur from time to time. I want to make sure I'm prepared.

As far as weight goals, I have been very careful w using MFP to mostly monitor and pay attention to my eating habits. More recently I have been More prone to a binge than restricting. But they are just diff sides of the same coin.

Thank you both for your response!
