Daily calorie intake

I am reaching out to you today because I wanted everyone's opinion on my daily caloric intake. When I first started going strong with my healthy foods it was because I had started a 14 day challenge. I loved the benefits of it because it is also very low sodium which is important to me. However, I am find that I am eating between 900 and and 950 calories a day and everyone say this is not enough. I have done some research on how much a should intake for weight loss (5'3" 149 lbs 30 Female) and the average is coming back at 1400 calories a day. I panicked when I read that I had to take in more calories. Any insight on this matter is greatly appreciated. And please remember, I am just starting my journey.
